The breed standard is the written description from which the breed is judged, it is a compilation of the various characteristics across the breed and does not represent one particular sheep. Certificates of conformity to the standard (CCS) are awarded at breed shows and by a jury of breed judges to those sheep deemed to fall within its parameters. In this way is is possible to describe the breed and its characteristic traits.
